Prehistoric Times

Fall #159 2026
Magazine

Prehistoric Times is THE magazine for prehistoric animal fans. Each issue contains the latest scientific news and art from the greatest paleoartists alive today. PT also has reviews of the latest books on the subject and even the latest toys and models plus much more.

FROM THE EDITOR • Welcome to our mammoth, new Fall issue of PT. First off, I am honored again to thank world famous SciFi, monster and prehistoric animal artist Bob Eggleton for creating a painting specially for our front cover. More of his beautiful mammoth art can be seen if you will direct your eyes a few inches to the right. And on top of that, we have a story within written by Bob’s wife Marianne Plumridge-Eggleton and illustrated with even more of his amazing mammoth artwork. We thank both of them. Also I believe I mentioned last issue that I was illustrating the interior of a brand new dinosaur book for young readers titled Dinoverse (which I finished). The publisher was looking for an artist to paint the front cover of the book, so I suggested Bob for that job, and of course they hired him.

METAL EARTH KITS: ARE THEY BUILDABLE? • In browsing the aisles of some of the major stores, you may have come upon a section with dozens of black packages on hooks called Metal Earth kits. The packaging is extremely enticing with photographs of ultra-detailed models of everything from X-Wing fighters and Monarch butterflies to SR-71 Blackbirds and The Empire State Building.
